With deep sadness, we share that our colleague Gunawan has passed away.
Gunawan had been part of the Netherlands War Grave Foundation in Indonesia since 15 April 2004, dedicating more than two decades of service to Ereveld Menteng Pulo.
When he first joined, he worked as an arbeider, where he took great care of the grounds and surroundings of the ereveld, always ensuring that the site remained well maintained, orderly, and beautiful. His dedication, strong work ethic, and attention to detail were quickly recognised by those around him. Over time, he was entrusted with the role of letterzetter, a position that reflected the trust placed in his careful and precise work.
Gunawan was known as a hardworking and caring person. He always looked after those around him, making sure that both people and the work entrusted to him were properly cared for. His kindness, dedication, and presence will be deeply missed by colleagues, friends, and all who had the opportunity to know him.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones during this difficult time. May he rest peacefully, and may his family find strength and comfort in the days ahead.
