Temporary Closure of Ereveld Candi for Asbestos Removal and Safety Measures

We would like to inform all families, friends, and visitors that Ereveld Candi is temporarily closed from 13 to 19 June 2025 to carry out essential asbestos removal work. This proactive step is being taken to ensure the continued safety and wellbeing of all who visit and work at the cemetery.

Ereveld Candi holds deep meaning as a place of remembrance, reflection, and shared history. While the main asbestos removal activities will be completed during this period, some areas of the cemetery will remain restricted until at least 2 July 2025. This is to allow time for further testing and follow-up works to ensure that the environment is fully safe and that the necessary renovations related to asbestos replacement are finalised.

The site will only be fully reopened once we have received laboratory confirmation that no asbestos particles remain and that all follow-up safety measures have been completed.

We understand how important it is for families and visitors to be able to visit their loved ones in a safe and peaceful environment, and we are doing everything we can to ensure that this temporary closure is handled with care and efficiency.

We thank you very much for your patience, understanding, and support during this time. Your safety is our top priority, and we look forward to welcoming you back to Ereveld Candi very soon.
