Netherlands War Graves Foundation (OGS) Indonesia Website Launch

On Thursday, 19 June 2025, OGS Indonesia will mark a significant milestone in its mission to preserve and share the stories of the war cemeteries (erevelden) and war victims in Indonesia through the official launch of its new website. The event will be held simultaneously at four war cemeteries: Ereveld Menteng Pulo (Jakarta), Ereveld Kalibanteng (Semarang), Ereveld Pandu (Bandung), and Ereveld Kembang Kuning (Surabaya).

The website represents our continued commitment to keeping the stories of the past alive and accessible for future generations. Designed to better serve both local and international audiences, the website provides comprehensive information about the seven war cemeteries in Indonesia, the history they hold, and the lives of the individuals buried there.

This launch event will be attended by our closest partners and stakeholders, whose support and collaboration have been essential in realising this project. At each location, a small gathering will be held to introduce the website, express appreciation to our collaborators, and reflect on the importance of making the stories accessible to a wider audience.

At the four erevelden, a special hybrid gathering will be hosted, featuring speeches from Lisette Mattaar, General Director of Oorlogsgravenstichting in The Hague, and Eveline de Vink, Director of OGS Indonesia. Both will highlight the vision behind the new website, its future development, and the importance of public engagement, especially among younger generations.

The OGS Indonesia website is available in both English and Indonesian, ensuring accessibility for a broad public. Visitors will be able to explore stories of those commemorated at the cemeteries, learn how to arrange visits, discover frequently asked questions, and understand more about the foundation’s role in Indonesia.

We warmly thank all who have contributed their insights, feedback, and historical knowledge to this project. We look forward to continuing this journey together.
